This update and FAQ is designed to assist agencies in assessing how the proposed all of government purchase of aerial imagery may add value to their business needs and also to answer some initial technical questions.

This document is to update technical mangers on progress with the all of government purchase of medium resolution imagery for New Zealand, the South West pacific and the Ross Dependency. 

An All of Government purchase will also make all products available to all territorial authorities.

The products will provide a baseline dataset for the whole of the country and the realm of New Zealand, captured in a consistent way over a short timeframe.

The initiative hopes to be able to capture panchromatic, natural colour and multi-spectral imagery for all of New Zealand within 5 years (possibly less).  It also allows for two captures of urban areas, two to three years apart.  The products are designed be complimentary to higher resolution aerial imagery (0.1-0.2m) and not to compete with such products.

Once contract negotiations begin a detailed information pack will be sent to all territorial authorities.
