The Mouse Wheel zooming is great, but two things would make it even better – when zooming with the mouse wheel, make the window centre on where the cursor is (this mean you don't have to stop the zooming to pan the map), and also make the Mouse Wheel Button (ie. pushing the mouse wheel) activate the pan function.  AutoCad allows the mouse wheel to be used like this and it is very efficient, particularly when the zoom and pan commands are transparent, ie. if you have the info tool selected it will remain selected when using the mouse wheel (Exponare 3.5 does this aleady for the zoom function)
